Midnite at Malioboro - Summer of 2009
Arrive in Yogyakarta always turn on the old memories inside. Spend three wonderful years there during senior high school. The feeling is still the same every time I stepped on my feet around, feelin so comfort. The city has its own magical charming with the people kindness, their simple and traditional way of thoughts and life. The urban changes and the mural that starts filled the city walls among buildings and under the bridges were only part of its charm beside the sweet taste culinary that you often found as its trademark.
Once you get there, try gudeg as the sweetest menu I’ve ever tried, it is made from young jackfruit that been cooked for hours with the traditional seasonings. Taste a bricket coffee near by Tugu station. You can also try to eat at Malioboro streets sidewalk at nite, sittin cosy on the floor with a general menu you can find everywhere- most fried food and entertaint by the street musician, that would be suitable for romantic kinda person ^^ and after dinner you could walk along the sidewalk or riding becak towards the Vrederburg castle on the corner of the Malioboro street, passing by the Beringhardjo market and Mirota Batik a well-known souvenirs shop, near the city main post office – which known as one of Yogya’s city landmark with Dutch architectures.
By day, you can just walk around inside the city using the trans-Jogja bus with 3.000 rupiahs. And near enough on the edge of the city you can visit Prambanan temple and watch the Rama-Shinta cultural dance performance, Borobudur temple, Candi Boko, a ceramic center in Kasongan, you can visit one of the house production for Batik, or a scientific visit to Taman Pintar.
Yogyakarta is definitely a place where I leave a piece of my heart with.
Lets Visit Indonesia!
